NEMI AI · Aerospace structural clamp

Aerospace structural precision-part manufacturing.

A flight-critical top-chamber structural clamp, machined to a 10–15 micron tolerance, supplied at volume within days of engagement, inspected First / Middle / Last from day one.

The Client

An aerospace OEM supplier of flight-critical structural hardware faced a high-volume delivery commitment and engaged NEMI AI to protect schedule without compromising quality. The component is a top-chamber structural clamp machined to a 10–15 micron tolerance for a critical mounting point.

The Brief

Plug in fast, deliver at volume.

The customer needed a precision partner who could plug in fast and deliver at volume.

01

10–15 µm, first time

Hold a 10–15 micron tolerance on a flight-critical clamp, first time, every time.

02

Stand up fast

Stand up supply in days, not weeks, to protect the delivery timeline.

03

~15 / day

Sustain ~15 jobs per day to keep up with the delivery commitment.

04

Inspect every batch

First / Middle / Last inspection, traceable to the work instruction.

What we did

Setup Machining Inspection.

Setup & Fixturing

Work holding designed in Anvil within 2 days; blank clamped & dial-levelled in twin hydraulic vices with high-speed machining.

CNC Machining

LMM-optimized 2-operation toolpaths on the Haas VF2, high-speed milling of the clamp profile.

Inspection & Release

First / Middle / Last inspection on every batch; LMM-driven CMM-based SPC capture implemented.

We brought NEMI in to support capacity on a flight-critical clamp, and what stood out was the throughput economics. They took a part that ran seven hours per job down to three, more than doubling our effective output, without ever giving up the 10–15 micron tolerance the mounting point demands. They were inspecting First, Middle and Last from day one and ramped to steady volume in days, not even weeks. It let us protect a high-volume commitment without compromising quality.

Outcome & next steps

NEMI AI now supplies the customer's top-chamber clamp on an ongoing basis, every part machined in two VMC operations on Haas VF2 cells with high-speed machining, and inspected First, Middle and Last.

  • Scale to higher monthly volumes as the customer's demand grows.
  • Extend to adjacent aerospace part families.
